We Say...

The Stooge MK6 is the latest iteration of Stooges classic rigid mountain bike.

The latest edition has a new stronger straight fork that harks back to BMX, and its ready to be thrashed like one.

They say...

The MK6 is here, and by crikes, its a bit of a rocker. Here’s some deets – 2 sizes: 18″ with 610 ETT, and 19″ with 625 ETT. Boost axles front and rear, rack mounts on the rear triangle. Trple cage mounts on the fork. Designed around 29×2.6 or 27.5×3.00. For best results in 29er mode run a 2.8 – 3.00 front tyre and a 2.5 – 2.6 on the rear.

In short, the mission remains the same, to keep producing framesets that transcend the humble status of the rigid bike, and turn us mere mortals into the golden gods of the hills, or something like that. The MK6 makes a great rigid trail bike and shreddy bikepacking steed.

3 colours – Mustardy Yellow, Mid Blue, and Pale Olive Drab

Framesets include – frame, forks, EBB insert, bolt on dropouts, allen key thru axles, all mounting bolts, seatclamp.

Fork!! The Mk6 comes with the new Junker fork. Its a triple butted straight legged beauty with BMX style leading dropouts, 57mm offset and Boost spacing. The ride is pretty much identical to the biplane but the strength is through the roof. Its designed to tie in with the new straight seat tube and just really hangs right with all the straight lines of the frame. Out of all my frames, the MK is also the one that ends up getting jumped and abused the most, so these are designed to rise to that occassion.

Sizing: the 18″ will be good for anyone 5’6 up to about 6’1. The 19″ will work for for anyone 5’11 up to 6’3 or so. My guess is you know what kind of sizing you like better than me, but i’m just shy of 6′ and will be riding the 18 with a 50mm stem and 150 dropper.

Here’s a quick geometry rundown with the larger size in brackets:

ETT 610mm (625), head tube 150mm (157mm), HA 66 degrees, SA 74 degrees, chainstays 445mm, BB drop 60mm (+/- 7mm), fork A/C 455mm, fork offset 57mm. 73mm English threaded EBB insert. 31.6 seatpost with stealth dropper routing.

Here are some numbers that might be useful if you’re looking to collect some parts:

Seatpost size – 31.6 mm. Minimum insertion required of 150mm.
Hub sizes – R 12×148, F 15 x 110
Headset – 1 1/8th” AKA EC34
Brake mounts are IS, so choose the IS to Post adapter that goes with whatever size rotors you’re planning on running. Talking of which, max rotor for the fromt is 203mm, max for the rear is 180/185mm.
Chainsets – if you’re running gears then a Boost spaced chainset is the way forward, we’re talking a 51 – 55mm chainline. I’d go for the 51. For single speed or keeping it hardy with 8/9 speed then any non boost size will also work fine.
Max chainring size – 36t
Running square taper cranks? – 73×121 with gears, 73 x 118 will also work fine.
