About the Brother Prototype Canti

The bike you see is the product of a little idea James, Will and I chatted about a couple off years ago, to bring back the Canti Kepler but in a 650b version.

In the time that’s past, James ended up designing a completely new bike, and they named it ‘Mr Wooden’ Ill let the brothers explain where that came from.

Ive been lucky enough to have been riding the Prototype version for a good few months now.

The evening before Brother In The Wild Purbeck, I threw the bike together just about good enough to attempt the ‘Woods WTF’ route, which on paper, would not be the type of terrain the bike is designed for.

I had one of the best rides in my recent memory that day. The bike is super light and whippy, it just glides along effortlessly. The sections of the route with baby head sized rocks required a little more ‘finesse’ than on my bike with 2.3 tyres but the challenge was enjoyable!

On road and smooth gravel sections the bike inspires you to pedal hard, it accelerates quickly and whips into a rhythm exactly how you would want a light weight steel bike to.

Im Looking forward to fitting some slicks front and rear and full fenders to use it as a winter commuter on Smooth New Forest gravel and road.

Ive been thoroughly enjoying the bike, its super versatile, but really comes alive on smoother gravel and road. I can picture everything from Randonneur style builds, to flat bar city rippers to drop bar ATB’s being built on this frameset.

The production run is due Spring 2023, so keep your ear to the ground when we open pre-orders.
