There's something about Surly that you don't find with many bike brands. It's the perfect example of a cult brand: if you roll into the cafe stop riding a Surly, other riders will ask you about it. Guaranteed. But on the other hand, it seems that nobody but the bike nerds even knows they exist.
Surly designs defy genre, swim against the tide of trends, and are all the more cool for it. They blazed the trail of the 29er wheel format, of the fat bike, and the round-the-world tourer. Surly has always had a foot in the most fun aspects of bike riding, and is always a barge-pole away from the oh-so-serious parts. So yeah, we're fans.
